Odometer fraud costs UK buyers thousands. The MOT history contains every recorded reading — so a clocked car cannot hide.
Look for two red flags. First, any reading that is lower than a previous test — that is a physical impossibility on an honest odometer. Second, an unusually flat period followed by a jump: cars that were driven and then had the clock wound back tend to show a suspicious "quiet" stretch.
The advisories are worth reading too. A history of the same component being flagged year after year — worn tyres, corroded brake lines, oil leaks — tells you what you're about to inherit.
