How to use a 5-level valuation

A single "book value" number is useless in a real-world negotiation. A private seller shouldn't be asking retail-forecourt money, and a dealer shouldn't be pricing at trade. The 5-level valuation shows the full range — so you know whether the asking price is fair, high or a bargain.

The valuation appears alongside the vehicle's specification and, on the Full Buyer Protection Check, its finance and write-off history — the three data points you need to walk into a deal with leverage.

Common questions

How accurate is the valuation?

CheckReg valuations come from Vehicle Data Global, the same feed high-street dealers and dealer management systems use. Values are keyed to make, model, spec, age and mileage, and refreshed against live UK market data.

What are the 5 valuation levels?

Trade, part-exchange, private sale, retail (dealer forecourt) and auction. Each level tells you what the vehicle is worth in a different sales channel — so you can benchmark a private seller's price against the dealer forecourt price.

Can I use the valuation to negotiate?

Yes — that's the point. If the seller is asking above the private-sale valuation, you have a data-backed argument for a discount. The PDF report is designed to be shown to a seller or dealer.
